In cold weather, a refrigerant circulating inside the sealed loop absorbs heat from the ground and carries it to the geothermal unit. Here it is compressed to a higher temperature and warms the air circulating throughout your home. When it’s warm outside, the system reverses and expels heat from your home to the cooler ground via the same loop system.
